"Genevieve Addleman (1900, Red), was one of the few Addleman descendants to become an actress on Broadway. "She appeared in a variety of [1920] Broadway plays including "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," "Crucible" and "Death Takes a Holiday [Joni Ransom, ca 1980]."

"Corinne Addleman Kostecka (Red), a cousin of Genevieve's, provided a newspaper copy of an indepth photo/biography of Genevieve Paul written by Joni Ransom. It is most likely from a local newspaper in Hastings, Nebraska. Genevieve attended Hastings High School andwas a member of Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She graduated and received a scholarship to Emerson College in Boston. "She was there for a year before embarking on her career as a professional actress [in New York]." She continued her dramatic training by taking "classes in dance choreography, scenic design, voice, tap dancing, modern dancing and history of the theater." People also asked for her autograph. "I was famous enough to get asked, but not so famous that I was getting mobbed and getting sick of it. It was a thrill when someone asked for an autograph.""

"Genevieve was engaged to the actor Martin Wolfson but later married Raymond Bartlett, who was a casting director. She lived in New York for 22 years but in 1954, she and her husband moved to Hastings, NE. He worked as the commercial manager for KHAS Radio until he died in 1971. Two of her contemporaries, Helen Hayes and Barbara Bel Geddes, did progress to motion pictures and television. Her old fiance, Martin Wolfson, was in the movie, "South Pacific."

"Joni Ransom completed her story with Genevieve Paul reminiscing about Broadway in the 1920's. "I remember it as a good time, an exciting time, but then it's impossible to find fault with something that you have enjoyed and that has meant so much to you."

Genevieve Addleman Bartlett was the daughter of Frank N. and Lizzie Addleman. She was born 9 Sep 1900 and died 3 Dec 1988 in Hastings, NE. She is buried at Parkview Cemetery. Her line of ascent is the following: GENEVIEVE-6 (1900), FRANK N-5 (ca 1866), BYRON W-4 (1837), WILLIAM S-3 (1805), JOSEPH-2 (1765) and HANS MICHAEL ADDLEMAN-1 (1723) [RED].
