". . . He [John Michael Addleman] worked at the shoemaker's trade in Philadelphia until the debt was paid, after which he engaged in agricultural pursuits in Chester county, Pennsylvania, throughout the remaineder of his life. Hise second son, JOSEPH ADDLEMAN, was the grandfather of our subject. He married SARAH PIERCE and to them were born ten children. Robert Williams, email <robertallenwms1971@yahoo.com>, 17 Dec 2012, "I can't remember if I have contacted you since I made the discovery of Hannah Way Peirce's will.  I found the documentation listing Dr. John Thomas' wife Elizabeth as sister to Hannah Peirce Whitaker (another one of my ancestors) and Sarah Peirce Addleman.  Dr. John was also mentioned in the will. If I have let you know, disregard my forgetfulness!  If I haven't, let me know and I will send you copies of the will and the transcription.  I have a cousin who has a Geography book that was handed down through Hannah to her grandson James Peirce Thomas (Dr. John and Elizabeth's son)."

"I am not an Addleman descendent. My grandmother, who was in the DAR and did a lot of family history in the 1920's recorded a lot of REID descendents, among them, children of JESSEE WEST ADDLEMAN. I do not have much on the Addlemans but here is what I have. They were clustered in Henry Twp., and in the town of Whitewater. There may be mention of them in a Wayne Co., Indiana history, but I'd have to brave Houston [TX] traffic to look that up. LINNIE ESTELLA REID was born in 1862 near New Paris, Preble Co., OH, daughter of Andrew Kirkpatrick Reid and Elizabeth Frances Windsor. Her second husband was Alonzo Morrison, whom she married in 1888."

Note: Sandra Johnson, 12 July 2012. "Robert E Addleman's death record lists his mother as Merainett Adleman.  (This is the youngest daughter of Caleb Way Addleman/Elizabeth Brown).  This record was found at familysearch.org.  This is the link to look at (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FD7M-YJ4)  If that doesn't work, then put Merainett Adleman in the search line and it will come up."

"Mr. Addleman, We found this short obit concerning the death of William Addleman that appeared in the Nov. 27, 1907 Lake Crystal Union. No obit was found following his death. Don R. Marben, Editor:

"Last Thursday morning, WILLIAM ADLEMAN, who lived with his brother [John Henry Addleman] on a farm in Butternut Valley, was found dead in the field. He was 60 years of age and unmarried. It is the opinion of the physician and the coroner who were called, that the man had died from apoplexy. The remains were buried in the cemetery at Lake Crystal. The deceased has relatives residing in St. Paul."2

1, 2. Addleman, Al. Letter, 15 Mar 2001. "This was John Henry Addleman's brother who lived with him. My father, Lynn A. Addleman, found him dead in the field after he failed to return home from hunting. This is the William Addleman mentioned in my letter. Uncle Bill is buried in the same funeral plot as my folks in Lake Crystal, Blue Earth Co., MN."

3. Sandra Johnson, Email. 17 July 2005. "I don't know who Robert's parents are because the first time I saw Robert on any census is when he appears on the 1880 census in the home of Elizabeth B Addleman, a widow, listed as a grandson. You, Robert have Sidney, Caleb and Elizabeth's daughter, having died in 1880 so I have thought that perhaps this was an out of wedlock son for Sidney, since she died in Feb and the census is taken later in the year. On the census Robert's father is listed as being from Canada and is mother from Indiana."

"Benjamin Thomas Addleman, photographer, Athens, Ohio, was born near Richmond, Wayne Co., Ohio, Jan. 28, 1827. At the age of nineteen he went to Richmond and worked as an apprentice eighteen months to learn the gunsmith's trade. He then worked as a journeyman until 1849, when he opened a gunsmith shop in Richmond, remaining there until 1852, when he went to California and mined successfully in Canyon Creek until 1859. He then returned to Ohio and purchased a farm in Preble County near New Paris, and farmed nearly two years, when, selling his farm, he returned to Richmond and dealt in iron with his brother, J. P. Addleman, until 1861. He then purchased another farm in Wayne County and pursued farming until 1864, when he again returned to Richmond and engaged in photography until 1869. He removed to Hagerstown, Ohio, and engaged in photography until 1873 when he came to Athens and established his present gallery. In April, 1860, he married Miss Margaret Tenney, of Montgomery County, Ohio. They have six children---Charles L., bookkeeper for the Singer Sewing Machine Company of Athens; Adell; Clara Belle, wife of Clement H. Hooper, of Athens County; Lula, William A.and Frank."1
