Note: Email, Donna Villanueva, 17 Feb 2007 <naw1947@yahoo.com>. "Nancy Elizabeth Hamler's daughter Jennie Bell Richards and James Franklin Williams are my great grandparents through Jennie and James Franklin's daughter Minnie Bell.  Nancy Elizabeth is buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cambria County PA as Nancy E. Brown.  Have a picture of her although we would have never found her if my second cousin, through Joseph Blair Williams hadn't come upon the information that she had married David Phillips, then Theodore Brown and that her name was Nancy Elizabeth, not just Elizabeth Hamler.  We had been told that her parents were Sylvanus Hamler and Lydia Addleman and that she was born in McAlisterville, PA, Huntingdon, Co.  Have no official source documents for this. Also was told Lydia died in Retort and the date.  We were given a date of  12 June 1823 as Lydia's birth date in Warriors Mark.  If your marriage date of 17 Aug 1848 for Sylvanus and Lydia is correct it sounds like we are on the right track!  Listed as a child of this union is Mary Luemma b. 9 Dec. 1864.  This would have been a tough one if the Civil War records are correct.  Sylvanus would have been occupied in the Rapidan Campain with his unit when she would have been conceived."

1.   "H. T. ROBISON, aged 79 years died at his home on South Side, Curwensville, Pa., Thursday, Sept. 11th, 1913, after an illness of two months, of a complication of diseases due to advanced years. He was born at Huntingdon Furnace, Huntingdon Co., Pa., and was the son of John and Rachel Robison. He was married Dec. 17th, 1860 to Miss Margaret Kelly, daughter of W. W. and Elizabeth Kelley, of Lumber City, who survives him with the following children: James A., of Clearfield; Estella, wife of R. L. Kelley, of Meadville, Pa.; Mrs. Nettie Farwell, of Curwensville; and W. W. Robison, of Jersey Shore, Pa. He is also survived by one brother, Edwin, Of Philipsburg, Pa., who was at the funeral.

"The deceased was a member of the United Christian Church under whose influence he was converted over four years ago, and maintained his christian integrity up to the day of his death. The funeral services were conducted Sept. 14th, at the house by Rev. G. W. Clegg, assisted by Rev. J. Max Lantz, Continued at the M. E. Church, Lumber City, with also a sermon by Rev. Clegg. A large number of people attended the two services, especially that at Lumber City where the Church was crowded. He has lived in Curwensville for the past ten years and was respected by all who knew him. He was an honest, industrious, upright citizen, a faithful husband and father. He is gone but not forgotten."

2.   "Mrs. MARGARET KELLY ROBISON, whose death occured Sunday morning, June 29, 1930, at her late home on Thompson street, was born in Bald Eagle Valley, PA, September 14, 1842, a daughter of Washington Kelly and Elizabeth Addleman Kelly, and at the time of her demise was in her 88th year. Deceased came to Lumber City with her parents in her early childhood. She was married Dec. 27, 1860, to Harry T. Robison at Lumber City by the late Squire Amos Hile and to this happy union six children were born, viz: James A. Robison of Clearfield; William Robison of Jersey Shore, Mrs. Stella Kelly of New York City, the late Mrs. Nettie Farwell, and Edward Robison, who was drowned in Potter County in 1904. Another son, Frank, died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1913 and for the past 17 years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Farwell, whose death occurred Wednesday, July 2, 1930, one day after she attended her mother's funeral.

"Mrs. Robison enjoyed an active life until October 19, 1928, when she sustained a broken hip from a fall downstairs at her late home. . . . During her long confinement she displayed real christian fortitude, hopeful that she might soon experience an improvement in health. When realization came to her that she could not recover, she accepted her fate calmly, awaiting the divine summons with complete resignation to the will of God. Her active and useful life came to a peaceful close Sunday morning, June 29, 1930. Her death removes from this community a woman of noble character and high ideals, and her passing is a source of genuine sorrow to a large circle of warm and admiring friends. ". . . Services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. R. Turner of the Curwensville, M.E. Church. . . .Interment was made in Lumber City Cemetery."

"The Angel of Death made a second visitation within a week to the home of Mrs. NETTIE FARWELL Wednesday, July 2, 1930, when it summoned Mrs. Nettied Farwell to her eternal reward, on the day following that upon which she attended the funeral of her mother, Mrs. Margaret H. Robison, thus visiting both mother and daughter in death.

"Mrs. Nettie Farwell was born at Lumber City, Nov. 8, 1871, a daughter of Margaret Kelly Robison and Harry T. Tobison, and at the time of her death was in her 58th year, When 16 years of age she came to Curwensville with her parents and for the past 43 years resided here. In 1894 she was united in marriage with Harry Farwell of Lumber City and to this union were born two children, both of them dying in infancy. Her husband died in 1905 and after the death of her father in 1913 she and her mother lived together in her late home on Thompson Street for the past 17 years. Mrs. Farwell had been in ill health the past two months and the death of her mother proved an overwhelming shock to her. The day following her attendance at her mother's funeral she suffered a heart attack and died suddenly.

"Mrs. Farwell was a deeply religious woman and affiliated with the Methodist Church early in life. She was a member of the Curwensville Methodist Church for the past 29 years, where she took an active part in the Sue E. Owens Bible Class. The class attended the funeral services in a body. Services were held from the M. E. Church here Saturday, July 5, 1930, in charge

She was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church and a fine Christian lady, a devoted mother and wife, and will be much missed by all who knew her. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from her late residence in Wrigley Addition East End, Rev. D. B. Triebley, of St. John's Lutheran church, officiating. R. William Thompson, funeral director. Interment in the New cemetery."

" Taking all this information it is my opinion that your James Addleman is the same James found living with William and Esther Addleman in the 1850 Clearfield Co. I think that the information on Anna Ricketts d/o James Ricketts was most likely a typo that occurred when the information was keyed in or wrong info in a record somewhere. The name may have gotten mixed when James McNeel remarried to Mary Ricketts, but this shows the Ricketts and McNeil named coined together and I feel the Anna Ricketts in Bob's book is the Anna McNeil on the death certificate. Do you both agree???"

"G. LLOYD ADDLEMAN, a highly respected citizen of Curwensville, residing on the corner of George and Walnut Streets, and a retired farmer still owning 125 acres of find land in Pike Township, was born in Center County, Pa., April 30, 1843, and is a son of WILLIAM and ESTHER ADDLEMAN. William Addleman was of German extraction. He came to Clearfield County in 1849 and was a farmer and lumberman. He reared two families of children, four being born to his first marriage and eight to his second, G. Lloyd being the third in order of birth in the latter.

"G. Lloyd Addleman attended school in both Lawrence and Pike Townships, the Center and Oakland schools, but when seventeen years of age he went to work in the woods and filled a man's place in the lumber camps. After he married he settled on the Irwin farm in Pike Township, where he lived for three and one'half years, and then purchased the home farm near Curwensville, on which his son, Charles C. Addleman now lives. He continued to reside on that place until the fall of 1902, when he retired from active labor and located at Curwensville, where he is very pleasantly established. He is a stockholder in the Curwensville Building and Loan Association. In politics he is a Republican and he served three terms as road supervisor in Pike Township and one term since coming to this borough.

"Mr. Addleman married Miss ANNIE M. CLEAVER, who was born in Pike Township, December 15, 1842, a daughter of Nathan and Cynthia (Wrigley) Cleaver, and they have had three children: William H., who died when aged two weeks and three days; Charles C., and Harry B. The latter resided at Curwensville. He was married first to Emma Hipp, who, at death, left three children: Walter, William and Alice. His second marriage was to Mary Grace Hatzenrather. Mr. and Mrs. Addleman are members of the Methodist Episcopal church. He belongs to and takes and interest in the Susquehannah Grange at Curwensville."

"CHARLES C. ADDLEMAN, who carries on general farming in Pike township, where he has 125 acres, 100 of which is under cultivation, belongs to one of the old county families, his grandfather, William Addleman, coming to Clearfield in 1849. He was born on what is known as the Irwin farm, near Curwensville, Clearfield county, January 1, 1872 and is a son of G. Lloyd and Annie (Cleaver) Addleman, who are residents of Curwensville, where they have lived since the fall of 1902.

"Charles C. Addleman obtained his education at the Oakland school in Pike township, and in the Curwensville public schools, and then began to assist his father on the home farm, to which his parents had moved in his infancy. Since his father retired he has had entire charge. About twenty-five acres of the place is still in valuable timber, and four acres are devoted to gardening, Curwensville offering a ready market for all over production on the farm. Mr. Addleman has no coal bank open, but in all probability a workable vein might be found as much property in this section has been underlaid with this valuable deposit.

"Mr. Addleman was married May 3, 1893, to Miss ALVERTA NORRIS, who was born at Clearfield, Pa., June 8, 1875, and is a daughter of Clark and Sarah (Wall) Norris, of Clearfield. Mr. and Mrs. "Addleman have two sons, George L. and Charles Wayne, both of whom are bright students in the public schools of Pike township. In politics Mr. Addleman is a Republican and he has frequently served in township offices, formerly as a school director for three years, also as road master and as supervisor, and has been chosen with other responsible citizens to serve on the election board. Both he and his wife are active members of the Union church. He is identified with the Odd Fellows lodge at "Curwensville."

"The Postmaster of the Curwensville Office, who is a Nephew of mine, sent me your letter a month ago. I am interested in our family tree and have collected some facts and data, but am waiting for the names of some of my kin which a cousin has in her possession. She promised to give me the information and we would go to Boalsburg to see you. So far we have not been together. She travels quite a lot and is a busy lady.

"A Mrs. Bertha Addleman FERGUSON of Richmond, Virginia came to see me a couple of years ago, she was trying to find relatives. Her father's name was JOHN ADDLEMAN, but I do not know her mother's maiden name [see Chapter 10].

"Back in the years between 1906 and 1910, a Methodist Minister by the name of GANOE lived in Curwensville and his wife's Maiden name was Constance Addleman. They had two children: Elsie and William Addleman Ganoe. The son was a West Point Graduate. At that time, one of my high "school teachers was a Miss Louise SHOOK, and her mother was a sister of Mrs. Ganoe, but I do not know her first Name [see Chapter 5]. Mrs. Ganoe told my older sister how we were related but at that time being a teenager, I was not interested in the family tree. My sister died in 1916 and I have been so sorry that I did not get the data from Mrs. Ganoe.

"My father [SAMUEL ADDLEMAN] had three half-brothers, namely WILLIAM, JOHN and JAMES. He also had four brothers, LLOYD, HENRY, SAMUEL (my father) and ROBERT. There were several sisters but I never knew but one, the others died when I was very small. Mary Porter Pretgin has the other names and that is what I am waiting for. Just as soon as we can get together we will try to give you an outline. I know this letter is rather confusing."
